The Centenary School of Music is dedicated to the excellence of musical instruction with some of the area's finest and most successful artists and teachers. The School of Music offers a wide variety of musical offerings for students of every age and background. With a wide range of instrumental and vocal instruction, Centenary School of Music offers strategic college preparatory opportunities for the serious high school student, elementary and intermediate tutorials as well as tailored instruction for adult students returning to the musical arts.
All studio and combined classes are staffed by Christian instructors and the school is governed by an Advisory Board.
Private Instruction The School of Music offers private instruction in several instruments to a wide range of students. Preschoolers to senior citizens have taken advantage of our programs. Instructors are highly qualified, many with advanced degrees in their teaching fields. All of the applied faculty members are also respected performers.
Suzuki Viola Instructed by a certified teacher with private lessons complimented by group sessions. This extremely successful and proven method for young people has the added dimension of ensemble opportunities to enhance the growth of the student.
Kindermusik An introduction to music for children ages four and five. Kindermusik is a unique program of music learning and enjoyment that nurtures the total development of the child. Students learn in a classroom environment in which they receive motivation/socialization skills through interaction with other children. Centenary's Kindermusik has its own web site: kidsmusik.kindermusik.net.
The Flute Symphony of Lexington
A multi-generational community ensemble open to all flutists with one year or more playing experience (music is edited to fit all ability levels). Members range from 7-70, and perform on instruments from the piccolo to the five foot tall contrabass flute. Rehearsals are held on Saturday mornings at Centenary; performances are given at the church and throughout the greater Lexington area. Additional information can be found at www.lexingtonflutes.com.
Teaching Music ... Touching Tomorrow
Centenary School of Music was established in 1989 as an extension of Centenary's outstanding Music Ministries program. CSM is dedicated to community outreach and ministry in Christ as one appendage of the Centenary Music Ministry. We cordially invite you to explore any of the many opportunities to serve as a part of Centenary's Music Ministries family. As a part of the Chancel Choir, Worship Orchestra, Handbell Choir, Youth Choir or Children's Choirs, we believe you would find uplifting and satisfying opportunities to worship and serve God through music.
