Transition News and Prayer
Updated December 18, 2008
[Transition Preaching Schedule]
As Centenary begins a transition period in our pastoral leadership, we want to encourage all who consider Centenary their spiritual home to be informed and praying about this change. We're grateful for the ministry of David Thomas and look forward to celebrating what God has done. We also anticipate a future in which God will build on past ministry.
Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
Here's What You Need to Know
Centenary's Staff Parish Relations Committee has begun the process of working with Bishop Lindsey Davis to identify our next Senior Pastor. Part of this process if for the SPRC to articulate a church profile which will help Bishop Davis and his cabinet discern who we are as a church and what our needs are for the future. Keep in mind that this profile is not a description of who we want or need as a Senior Pastor.
If you have thoughts or questions regarding this profile, now is the time to communicate with the SPRC about them. You can use the response device below or email them by clicking on the Email icon:
All communications with SPRC will be treated confidentially.
The process of identifying our new Senior Pastor will take some time and prayer. It will not be until spring that we hear what the Bishop's decision is. In the meantime, we can pray and prepare for what God will lead us into as a church.
Centenary is pleased to host Bishop Lindsey Davis as our preacher at all three morning worship services on January 4, 2009.
Here's How You Can Pray
- Pray that a spirit of anticipation will rise at Centenary about how God will lead us into greater faithfulness in the days ahead. Pray for a growing hunger for God's word and a deeper experience of the Holy Spirit.
- Ask God to give the members of the Staff Parish Relations Committee great discernment about our church and the ability to communicate their understanding to the bishop.
- Ask God to provide just the right person as senior pastor for Centenary's future.
