Centenary United Methodist Church

Susan Elkow,
Pastor of Evangelism

Susan ElkowSusan often says when she entered into the Christian life she was an "illegal alien." At the age of 38 Susan was successful in the corporate world but had no understanding of Jesus Christ and no belief in God. She viewed life through her industrial engineering background, putting spiritual matters on the back burner in favor of a scientific understanding of the world.

In search of a time of peace and rest she found herself on a retreat designed to build Christian leaders out of Christian believers. As an "illegal alien" on that retreat she experienced God's amazing grace for the very first time and became a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Life has not been the same since. Within two months she became a student at Asbury Theological Seminary, three years later she graduated, leaving the corporate world behind to follow God's call to preach and teach.

Susan has since been ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church and continues to be in awe of the life-changing amazing love of Jesus Christ.

Prior to coming to Centenary in June 2008, she served as pastor of Bennett Memorial UMC in Henderson, Kentucky, First UMC in Jackson, Ky, and Associate Pastor at Grace on the Hill, a United Methodist Church in Corbin, Kentucky.

Susan and Dave are the proud parents of Ryan and Darren and granddaughters Kylie and Kayden.
