Director of Middle School Ministries

March 2008

Part-time position: approximately 28 hours per week with strong potential to increase to full-time with benefits in the near future.) Full-time job with benefits is possible with addition of another administrative position in the church. Minister to Students will work closely to help manage time and assist with ministry responsibilities.

We are looking for an individual with a passion and ability to minister and connect to the middle school students in Centenary and around our community.

Weekly Work Schedule

Sunday
  • Lead teacher of Confirmation class on Sunday AM
    • Offer leadership and organization to Confirmation Class
    • Beginning in 2008-09, assist in determining best arrangement for teaching & leading of Confirmation Class and 7th-8th grade classes
  • Attend a Sunday worship service weekly
  • Assist in creative planning of Encounter High School and attend as desired
Monday
  • Relational ministry on a weekly basis at middle school lunches (rotate 3-4 schools)
  • Attend all Encounter and Elevation Staff meetings
  • Preparation for Encounter Middle School and Confirmation
Tuesday
  • Preparation for Encounter Middle School and Confirmation
Wednesday
  • Lead, teach and plan Encounter Middle School
    • Direction, teaching and assistance will come from Minister to Students

Other office and outside relational hours as needed.

  • Co-leader and co-teacher for Celebrate Recovery for Students. Day and time unknown as ministry is in pilot process.

Other Ministry Responsibilities

  • Discern, cast vision and lead ministry to draw the greatest number of middle school students into a personal and vibrant relationship with Christ
  • Involvement in adult Bible Study/small group
  • Encourage, hold accountable and follow-up with middle school adult leaders
  • Relational ministry on a biweekly basis at extracurricular school activities - at least one every other week
  • Be attentive to and follow-up with students that haven't been around for awhile
  • Invest relationally with 6th-8th grade students on an individual & weekly basis
  • Assist in planning, attending, and leading (when needed) all leader training events
  • Offer informal counseling to students
  • Plan & help lead a quarterly event for female students - at least 2 per year
  • Lead and plan all middle school student activities - retreats, special activities, mission trips & summer activities - assistance from Min. to Students
  • Initiate and support local missions with the middle school student ministry
  • Assist in planning and leading of curriculum, teaching series, retreats, special events, trips, camp and summer activities
  • Administrative work as needed will be expected
  • Expectation is to teach 1-2 times per week
  • Attend all conferences and training events with Encounter staff
