Navigating the Centenary Family Web Site
On Friday evening, March 14, 2008, we implemented a major change to the layout and navigation of www.CentenaryLex.com.
Available site navigation tools are:
- The drop-down horizontal menu just under the header graphic at the top of all standard web pages.
- Three current ministry initiatives featured in the "big buttons" at the bottom of the home page.
- The search capability - now at the top left of all standard web pages.
- From six to eight news items in the left panel.
- A new "news" page that is almost identical to the old home page.
- The site map.
- There are extended navigational aids for some sections on the site.
Details
1. Horizontal Menu

At the top of all "standard" web pages (this means all web pages
except those that are "pdf" files - Adobe Acrobat -
and .mp3 files - audio files) just under the header graphic you will find eight menu items arranged horizontally:
- Home
- About Us
- Rooted in the Word
- Renewed Through Worship
- Reaching into the World
- Age Level (Elevation) Ministries
- News & Happenings
- Contact Us
When you use your mouse
to position your cursor over any of these eight topics, it will "drop down" and give you several options that provide more detail within
that section of the website. Simply click on the area of interest and off you go. There are over 40 destinations available from the
drop-down submenus!
Please note that these menus may change from time-to-time; however, this method of navigation will remain constant.
2. The Big Buttons
Near the bottom of the home page (only) there will be three square navigational buttons side-by-side. These will represent three
current ministry initiatives at Centenary. Each button may stay for a few days or, in some cases, a few months. Some will pop-up from time to
time to remind us of events that can easily slip the mind - things like blood drives.
3. Search

At the top of the left panel, just under the horizontal menu, there is a box whereby you can enter words or phrases for the site's search
program to locate. The entry panel is just above the gold "Search" button. After you enter the word or phrase, click on the search button
and you will be given a new web page on your browser with the results. If there are more than 10 "hits" you can page to the next group of 10
by using the "Next 10" link at the bottom right of the page. You also have options of sorting by date and showing page summaries. If you
choose the latter, the word(s) you used for the search will be highlighted in yellow.
4. Left Panel
We will include from six to eight news items in the left panel. These will appear on all standard web pages, and will generally include
the three items that are the subject of the three "big buttons."
5. News Page
The new "News" page is really so new ... it is basically the old home page. It will have all the latest news, and there will be some
"sticky" items that may stay there for a while. There is a [News] link just below the Search button on the left menu, and another link
is in the dropdown of the "News & Happenings" menu item.
6. Site Map
The site map is in the "Home" menu item drop down. This is an outline of the entire site that will give your an overview of the site and
provide helpful links to key site sections and pages.
7. Extended Navigational Aids
At the bottom of the left panel on some sections of the web site, there are additional navigational aids for that
particular section.
