2008 Lexington UMC Habitat Build
Help a deserving Lexington family have a home! All types of volunteers are needed from highly skilled to just eager to help. This is the 13th home built in Lexington by your United Methodist Churches uniting together. Please register your willingness to help at the Lexington Methodist Build web site!
The 13th Annual United Methodist (UM) Build for Habitat for Humanity will begin July 17, 2008. Volunteers will be needed until the house is completed around the end of August. This is a great volunteer opportunity for an individual, small group, or Sunday School class so start thinking now about coming out to the site! Involvement may include a devotional, a meal for the workers, painting, landscaping, or cleaning. Assisting with construction requires no experience since there will be skilled leaders to guide us.

We are excited to have three 2x4 Dedication Sundays: June 29, July 6, and July 13 from 9:15am-12:45pm -- either in the courtyard or the hospitality room. All three dates will provide CUMC attendees the opportunity to learn more about the project, sign up to volunteer, and make a donation in order to personally dedicate a 2x4 with scripture and encouragement that will actually be utilized in the UM Habitat home. This year's recipients of the home, the Yvonne Dodge family, will be introduced to the congregation during all 3 morning services on July 13th. Then, our special visitors will be available for dialogue at the 2x4 dedication location. This is one way that we're helping Yvonne earn her 250 sweat equity hours. Please do your best to help them feel welcome in our church community. We're building on faith! 2 Samuel 7:10: And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own...
You may go to our dedicated website, www.lexumchabitat.org, for the build calendar, family bio, home layout, and updates. For online volunteer registrations please go to that site and click on "Register to Work" (on the left side menu) for registration instructions and link. Registration is important, in that it helps us plan our workforce and staffing: please register as soon as you can!
Other ways to help without lifting a hammer include an in-kind donation of materials and/or skilled laborers. Donating a lot, a car, home furnishings, appliances, or building materials can be handled through the Habitat office or ReStores. Cash donations are always welcomed!
